Road Safety

Maungatapu Road is very busy especially before school and at 3 pm. There are electronic signs posted 100 metres at both ends of the front of our school on Maungatapu Road. These are active during the times 8.25am – 9.00am and 2.55pm -3.15pm signalling that your maximum car speed is 40km/h. Please take note of the times when picking up your child or driving by. Any information regarding road safety, visit “The Official NZ Road Code”

Parent Parking

Parents are advised to park legally along Maungatapu Road or in Ririnui Place when dropping off or collecting their children and are reminded to use the pedestrian crossings at all times. School Road Patrols monitor the crossing outside the school each morning and afternoon. The bus bay outside the front of the school is very busy. However, in many occasions, parents will park illegally in the bus bay or out front of the school gate. Many of our bus pupils are walking into the bus bay to catch buses. This hinders the buses that need to travel our pupils to and from school. Please DO NOT park in the allocated areas designated for buses.

Bike and Scooter Safety

It is COMPULSORY for all children to wear an approved safety helmet riding their bike or when they scooter to and from school. The Board of Trustees recommends that children should be 9 years of age or older to ride a bicycle to school. Pupils can place their bikes in the bike racks behind the Whare Toi, or behind Room 8 (depending on which direction that enter the school). These are locked at 9.00am and unlocked at 3.00pm. The scooters can be stored away in the scooter cage in between the Astroturf and Room 20. They gate is locked at 9.00am and opened at 3.00pm.
